Lobster
Some people would travel long distances and gladly risk their lives just for a few spoonfuls of their delicious creamy lobster soup, as it is one of the best of its kind to be found in Iceland.
Although we have never been to heaven, we're quite sure that the lobster there tastes quite similar to what you will experience at Við Fjöruborðið (Translation: By the seashore). Located next to a rocky shoreline on the south coast in the idyllic and friendly little fishing village Stokkseyri, Við Fjöruborðið is one of the most highly acclaimed lobster restaurants in Iceland. This gourmet sanctuary in the south is surely reason enough to visit Stokkseyri.
Við Fjöruborðið specializes in Icelandic lobster (langoustine). The cuisine is simple, the delicate seafood is fried in butter and garlic, preserving the lobster's unique taste, and you can choose between 250 gr. 300 gr. and 400 gr. Portions. If you're lobster-averse, there are other options as well. Try the roasted fillet of lamb served with baby potatoes and red wine sauce, or the countryside salad with fresh mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, fresh vegetables and slices of marinated beef. All of the bread is homemade and served with delicious sauces made after secret recipes.
Við Fjöruborðið is suitable for groups of all shapes and sizes, with three separate halls and the ability to serve 250 people at once. They have ten varied group menu options with different lobster feasts, some of them including fantastic wines. The surroundings are beautiful and there are plenty of activities worthy of checking out in the area. You can get scared at the Ghost Centre, or visit the fantastic Wildlife museum, for instance, but even if you just go to Stokkseyri for the lobster, you won't have any regrets.
