If you want to have a fantastic lunch, come here and order the club sandwich. A hearty dish of goodness that will definitely keep you full until dinner.
Snaps is a classic bistro with a strong connection with Danish cuisine, situated at Óðinstorg. The location is ideal, only a few steps away from downtown Reykjavik, close to the National Theatre, The National Gallery of Iceland, the Icelandic Opera and the two main shopping streets of Reykjavik. The famous Reykjavik nightlife is just around the corner. The restaurant itself is situated in a charming old residential area just off the center.
The menu consists of classic bistro fare along with af few Snaps twists, such as open sandwiches. Open sandwiches, or smørrebrød, are a delicious Danish tradition. Try the „Stjerneskud', for example, with plaice, shrimp, asparagus and thousand island dressing. Some other highlights of the menu are the french onion soup with Icelandic cheese and croutons, „Moules Frites', mussels with white wine, french fries and aioli, and „Confit de Canard', leg of duck, potatoes, mustard sauce and salad. If you have a chance, try the fries. Rumour has it that one of Iceland's food critics actually cried tears of joy when she tasted the french fries at SNAPS for the first time. That has to count as a good recommendation.
If you're in town on the weekend, the Snaps Bistro brunch comes highly recommended. In fact, we'd recommend coming early if you want to make sure you'll get a table, the place fills up quickly with locals who've waited all week for the taste of the Snaps eggs Benedict or blueberry pancakes.
For a perfect night in Reykjavik city, have dinner at the lovely restaurant SNAPS and walk towards adventures of the night.
