The Climbing Hut is operated by the Climbing Association of Reykjavík with the purpose of strengthening the progress of climbing in Iceland. A big part of this is running the Climbing Hut, where climbers of all ages can practice their sport year-round. The Climbing Hut is a non-profit organization operated by climbers, for climbers.
The gym is mainly a bouldering gym but they have a small sport climbing wall. To use the wall you need to take a top-rope or a lead climbing test.
For the bouldering part, anyone can start right away, all you need is a comfortable set of gym clothes and climbing shoes. They rent those for a small fee. If it is your first time you can ask the staff member in the reception to give you a short introduction on how to start. They also offer a wide range of courses and beginner's evenings amongst other things.
